At St.George’s Preschool we aim to provide a stimulating, safe and caring environment where children can learn through play.
We work at all times within a framework that ensures equality of opportunity for all children and families, regardless of race, culture, special needs, gender, lifestyle or family circumstances. We teach to a carefully planned curriculum giving all children opportunities to work towards the main aim of the Early Years Foundation Stage – helping children achieve the five Every Child Matters outcomes.
We take a maximum of 24 children each day aged between 2½ and 5 years and have a qualified and dedicated team of staff to gently prepare your child for formal education. We are proud to be the only local Preschool to offer extended 4 hour sessions (9.30am- 1.30pm) including a hot lunch, freshly prepared on the premises by our resident cook. At each session we have a minimum of four staff members, providing a high ratio of adults to children (a 1:8 ratio for 3-4 year olds, 1:4 for under threes). Your child is welcome to enrol for as many, or as few, sessions a week as you wish.
The Preschool is OFSTED inspected and a member of the Lewisham Branch of the PreSchool Learning Alliance. As a community Preschool and registered charity, it is run and managed by the parents and carers of the children as a non-profit organisation. The Preschool claims the 3-4 year olds free entitlement from the Local Authority for eligible children.
The Preschool is open for 38 weeks of the year, being closed during school holidays.
